Something Old, New, Borrowed & Blue

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, These four objects that a bride is supposed to have on her wedding day are meant as good luck charms and each have separate meanings. Each item serves a different purpose and, collectively, they bring good luck to the marriage.

•Something old symbolizes continuity with the bride’s family and past history.
•Something new represents optimism and hope for the bride’s future.
•Something borrowed is supposed to represent borrowed happiness, and be obtained from a happily married relative or friend whose good fortune in marriage will hopefully carry over to the bride.
•Something blue started in Ancient Rome, when brides began to wear blue to represent love, fidelity and modesty.

Here are a few ideas:

Garter: Don’t worry about that “something blue” throwing off your color scheme, because it’s trendy to have that one color that pops.
