Seated vs. Buffet

At a traditional sit down dinner or luncheon, guest are usually assigned places at dining tables and are served by waitstaff. Place cards can either be set on the tables or laid out alphabetically on a separate table where guests pick them up early in the reception. Generally a seated wedding meal comprises there courses- soup, salad or appetizer; entrée with vegetables and dessert.

There are several variations on the method of service including:

Plated service: The food is already arranged on the plates when they are set before the guests at the table.

Russian service: Empty plates are on the tables and the waitstaff serve each course from platters. There may be more than one waiter; one serves the meat another serves the vegetables and the third might serve salad.

French service: One waiter holds the serving platter while another serves the plates. French service can be very efficient when guests are offered a choice of entrees.

Buffet service adapts to any wedding style and is particularly well suited for brunch and luncheon receptions. Whether a buffet is more or less expensive then a seated meal depends on the costs of the food served, the number of service staff required and the amount of food likely to be consumed. Guest may or may not have assigned seats. So tables can be small or large as you visioned.. Normally places are set with tableware, glasses and napkins but guest might pick up their own utensils and napkins at a casual buffet.

Lets no forget about the little kids buffet:

If you plan to have children attend one way to serve at the reception is to offer a kid friendly buffet table with their height. Also try to include such friendly foods like fish sticks, chicken fingers, vegetables and cookies.

If this is just to much to decide on leave it up to a professional to help make that decision for you based on your vision and budget.

Until next time, Blessings and Happy planning!!!

The Wedding Rehearsal

Although wedding rehearsal are very standard its easy to forget the details that go into planning. Add some excitement to all the nervousness involved in planning a big day. It is important that all of the wedding party be fully involved in the rehearsal. It’s even more important that they pay close attention when the service is nontraditional or unfamiliar. Below are some guidelines to consider for a traditional wedding rehearsal:

Who attends?
Bride and groom
Best man and the maid and matron of honor
Bridesmaids
Groomsmen and ushers
Ring bearer
Flower Girl
Parents of the bride and groom (Typically the rooms parents have no active part of ceremony they don’t need to be present)
Officiant
Anyone speaking or preforming in the ceremony
Musicians, DJ, audio technicians who are handling the music and the sound system during the ceremony.
Photographer and Videographer

What should they wear?
Clothing that’s acceptable for the house of worship.

When is the rehearsal held?
Typically the rehearsal is held one week before the wedding or two days before. The closer to the wedding rehearsal takes place the better chances that all will go smoothly.

What happens during the rehearsal?
At the rehearsal, the wedding planner or officiant reviews the order with the couple. The officiant might ask the couple to recite one verse so they can find the right tone and volume. If there is an aisle runner, use the timing and signals for placing the runner once the brides mother has been seated The organist plays the processional so that the pace and spacing can be practiced. The order of procession is established and the attendants walk up the aisle two or three times until all goes smoothly. Everyone makes sure things are comfortable and that the order looks symmetrical. The maid of honor then learns when to take the brides bouquet and how to arrange the brides train with out attracting attention to herself. The officiant will explain when the veil if worn should be turned back and a decision is made on who will do so. After the kiss the bride and her party will follow her then the guest.
Then off to greet bride and groom and party or meet at the reception hall.

All about Tent Weddings

When considering using an outdoor tent for your ceremony or reception, there is a list of options to choose from. Many tents today run from simple to palatial. There are bridges and pathways, arched entryways, parquet floors, stained – glass panels and chandeliers. You can also have colored tent that matches your wedding colors. keep in mind that depending on the weather you will need generators for heating or cooling and ceiling fans to keep air circulating.
There is various choices to choose from so keep in mind to have a reputable supplier that know how to measure your tent, that will accommodate your guest and all vendors involved. This is very important and plays a crucial part in your budget. Simply Perkfect Event Boutique works with the best companies and can help you execute your vision while keeping your budget in mind.
In general you will need at least 60×60 or 40×100 tent per 200 people for dancing and dinner. If you want restrooms or plan on having a cocktail hour you will need extra footage. Also consider a generator backup, sound system hook up, permits required by local ordinance and other personal information for tent installation and maintenance.

FYI: Don’t order a tent over the phone, go in person to see what you are paying for.

Your wedding photographs and video Cd’s are a tangible record of a special time in your life. So it is very important to choose the right person. Each photographer has his or her own distinct style, which reflect the photographer’s Portolio of work. Make sure you seek out those photographers who’s work reflect your style.

Classic: This photographer specialize in expertly composed, well lit portraits. They basically come up with magic moments.

Traditional: A traditional photographer generally treats every image as a posed portrait, even shots you may think is candid.

Photojournalistic or reportage: This particular photographer is one who takes a photojournalistic approach, who considers photos to record events not really stage them.

Commercial: This photographer will perfectly capture shots of the centerpieces, cake, flowers and decor and could be hired just for that at purpose.

Photographic Artist: Similar to a photojournalist, a photographic artist rarely take traditional shots but prefer to find artistic ways to photograph elements.
